It is an automated, standards-based global environment consisting of several connected Regional data pools and a global registry (GS1 Global Registry) enabling companies around the world to exchange standardized and synchronized supply chain data with their trading partners in both local and global markets, driving costs out of the supply chain. GDSN is a global initiative that is being developed by Gs1 with the support of the world's largest consumer package goods (CPG) retailers and suppliers.
