Application of e-collaboration tools in the retail distribution business
Hundreds of Egyptian companies made huge investments in automation programs and ERP systems;
despite this huge investment, existing systems still produce and exchange paper based invoices or
purchase orders to be faxed or delivered manually resulting in hundreds of lost man hours in
document rekeying. GS1 eCom provides a standardized platform for the flow of information among
trading partners improving the accuracy of data internally and across chains. Implementing electronic
exchange of documents is the natural next step in the supply chain maturity journey. In this session
you will learn how you can easily implement and automate the exchange of business documents with
all your business partners.

Consumer Driven Supply Networks (CDSN) (P&G Near East - Platinum Sponsor)
What is CDSN?
Consumer Driven Supply Networks is an approach focused on designing and implementing a supply chain that enables companies to win with the consumer at the first moment of truth (in store when the consumer makes the purchase decision). This requires the integration of the supply chain from the
consumers through to suppliers.
Why CDSN?
At P&G, we consider that the Consumer is Boss. Today’s consumers have ever-increasing expectations.
They expect:
- Continuous Innovation
- Great Value
- Shelf presence
- Customized products that fit their needs
- Great In-store experience
Also Retailers are changing to meet the needs of today’s consumers
They are experiencing:
- Industry consolidation
- Increased pressure on cash flow and operational excellence
- They are driving their private labels, focusing on margins as well as trying to drive their uniqueness & offer consumer solutions
This puts pressure on today`s manufacturers because today`s supply networks are not fast or flexible enough for:
- The increased Pace of innovation
- Increasing number and complexity of products
- Demand for affordability and value
- Need for speed to market
CDSN is a shift from focusing on internal supply chain measures to a focus on delivering reliability & flexibility as well as creating value with retailers & consumers to drive business growth.
